Last year, Cypress voters were told they’d be approving senior housing or medical offices.

Instead, they’re slated to get a warehouse and trucking center.

Find out more at 5:30 p.m. today when PBS SoCaL airs a special Voice of OC-PBS SoCaL joint investigation into the issue.

PBS SoCaL’s David Nazar has produced a report examining Cypress’ effort to establish a distribution center on its border with Los Alamitos. The prospect has drawn fierce opposition from Los Alamitos residents and officials.

Among concerns about traffic, residents have raised questions about developer campaign contributions to a majority of Cypress City Council members now overseeing the project’s approvals.

Those council members have so far declined to speak on the issue, but the developer who helped finance their campaigns said they’ll be making independent decisions on the project.

For more on the controversy, tune in Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. for SoCal Insider with Rick Reiff and Thursday at 5 p.m. for Real Orange.
