I would say let the county take overbut the bos cant even get a decent animal shelter built ….much less a great park

    Who’s on first? What’s on 2nd? I don’t know is playing 3rd?

No need to make a call and bring in the clowns—they’re already there, making yet more dumb decisions piled on top of the Great Park scam ones.

Irvine residents might be safe from many types of violent crime, but City Hall is a Marx Bros. free fire zone…so residents are not safe from having their coffers drained still further by supposed new dawn, new day majority, the fiscally prudent successors to the King Agran Regime.

The French adage applies, to paraphrase: The more things appear to change, the more they stay the same. This era is no different, it just has less $$$ to blow. Now staff is becoming the whipping boy, the go-to scapegoat. Spread the guilt around.

Modestly-sized municipal government incapable of managing hundreds of millions of dollars in a capital venture experiment blew through the ceiling via a gamble.

Savvy investors warned of the real estate and stock bubble in the early 2000s, experts knew it would burst. So it did and so has the image of Irvine. With no Plan B, once Redevelopment $$$ were gone there was no backup contingency. All of the $$$ placed on the “black” (great profits) that little ball came to rest on the “red” (deficits).

Throwing good $$$ after bad to recoup minor amounts, couldn’t the $$$ now being spent, investigators investigating other investigators, been used to try and move forward? More not less distrust is being sewn.

This is like that divorce movie, THE BATTLE OF THE ROSES. It’s suicidal, self-destruction in slo-mo…….Everybody loses, including voters who handed them the keys to the car, not realizing that already drunk on smarmy elitist power, they’d crash it into a big fat stupid balloon. Sic transit.

“Thou shall put no other God before Me,” too many people making money and power their God.

There are generally 2 things that impede justice in this County. One is political interference. The other is the actual investigation. Normally in that order.

“Other Aleshire & Wynder bills totaling $114,672 were denied.

The board also denied $67,257 in extra bills from HSNO.”

Well, that’s a step in the right direction.

  • David Zenger

Bottom line: $250,000,000 gone. No park, great or otherwise.

  • Paul Lucas

The whole ting is depressing. beginning to end.

You know that the empire is in decline when prominent people are under investigation and you have to investigate the investigators. ha. Isn’t it strange that when the little people are under investigation it’s generally wrapped up within a week and charges are filed? Yet when those who are either sworn to uphold the law or are deeply entrenched in the political system are being investigated the investigations last forever (or at least until the public frenzy has subsided and the memories fade) and in the end there’s never enough evidence to justify a prosecution. ha. Yes, my friends. The empire is in decline. Accept it.
