Renowned California State Senator, Past Chair of CA Latino Legislative Caucus, Backs Correa for CA-46

SANTA ANA, CA— Maintaining his edge in the race for California’s 46th Congressional District seat, today former State Senator Lou Correa secured support from California State Senator Ricardo Lara.

Senator Lara represents California’s 33rd District and is considered one of the most influential members of the State Senate, chairing the powerful Appropriations Committee. Previously as Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, the legislature passed AB60 to allow undocumented Californians to obtain driver’s licenses. He also authored this year’s SD4, the state’s forward-thinking law to provide healthcare to all of California’s undocumented children. Beyond previously Chairing the Latino Caucus, Senator Lara is also a member of the legislature’s prominent California Legislative LGBT Caucus.

In announcing his support of his former colleague Lou Correa for Congress, State Senator Ricardo Lara released the following statement:

“While Washington has continued to be mired in political logjams and stalemates, California has led the nation on smart and progressive laws to improve immigrants’ rights, invest in clean energy, enhance public safety, protect workers’ rights, and create more good paying middle class jobs. Former Senator Lou Correa has played a key role on these important policies and many more. That’s precisely why we need him in Congress, working to bring solutions that we developed right here in California to address our nation’s big challenges. I know he’ll make our state proud as the 46th District’s next Representative.”

Just yesterday former Senator Correa scored a forceful endorsement from Congressman Tony Cardenas who serves as PAC Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus’ fundraising arm, BOLD PAC.
