For the first time in years, the city of Westminster will step out of austerity mode and put more money into its budget for staff and services, thanks to an infusion of revenue from the one-cent sales tax increase approved by voters in November 2016.
The OC Register said District Attorney investigator Tom Conklin, in an 11-page summary of the investigation of Spitzer obtained by the newspaper, said bank records of former Spitzer aide Christine Richters didn’t show the cash withdrawals.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Rackauckas, working with the state Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), is looking into Spitzer’s campaign fundraising and spending as well as allegations from a former Spitzer legal client that she couldn’t pay her legal bills so Spitzer put her on his campaign and county payrolls and she used $7,000 of that money to repay him in cash.
The 13-year-old Anaheim resident involved in a physical struggle with off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer Kevin Ferguson in February has filed a civil rights lawsuit against the city of Anaheim and LAPD.
The Anaheim City Council Tuesday voted 6-1 to form youth and senior commissions with Councilman James Vanderbilt voting against the proposal. According to a staff report, the Anaheim Youth Commission (AYC) will consist of 21 appointed members age 14 to 26, representing each of the six districts in Anaheim. A Senior Citizen Commission will also be reinstated, with seven members age 60 and over. The commissions will be taking applicants in the coming months. Candidates for the Youth Commission under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian, as well as a 2.0 GPA.
The Anaheim Police Department has handed off a review of an altercation between an off-duty LAPD officer and a group of teens to the Orange County District Attorney’s office, which will determine whether or not to file charges against either party.
A city review into alleged time card fraud by Anaheim Police Chief Raul Quezada and Deputy Police Chief Dan Cahill found they did not violate city or police department policies, according to a statement released by the city Thursday.
