OC Immigrant Communities to Hold March for a Moratorium on Deportations

What: March for a moratorium on deportations
When: June 29 | 5:00 PM
Where: Meeting Location – Sasscer Park in Santa Ana (on the corner of Ross and 4th   Street)

Santa Ana, CA – Orange County Immigrant Youth United (OCIYU) will host a march to demand that President Obama issue a moratorium on deportations following last Thursday’s Supreme Court split decision that left in place the injunction against the President’s Administrative Relief Programs, DAPA and extended DACA, while leaving existing immigration enforcement programs untouched. The march will take place in Santa Ana, and pass through residential areas with high immigrant communities, and will then make its way toward the Santa Ana City Jail which is used as a detention center for LGBTQ immigrants by ICE, the OC Sheriff’s Department which collaborates with ICE under 287(g), and the local ICE office. Following the Supreme Court decision, OCIYU joined the Not1More Deportation Campaign in calling for a moratorium on deportations. Wednesday’s march follows protests in Phoenix, Atlanta, and Hartford organized by Not1More members.
