Court Extends Grand Jury Application Deadline to February 1
Santa Ana, CA – Hon. Kirk Nakamura, Assistant Presiding Judge of the Orange County Superior Court and chair of the Grand Jury Recruitment and Selection Committee, announced today that the Court has extended the deadline to apply to serve on the next Grand Jury to February 1, 2017 due to a shortage of applicants. Judge Nakamura said, “By law, the Court must impanel a 19-member Grand Jury each fiscal year to serve a one-year term.

District Attorney Retaliates Against Todd Spitzer for Fighting for Ethics Reform
Statement from Supervisor Todd Spitzer
District Attorney Tony Rackauckas jeopardized any remaining shred of credibility his office may still have by hastily summoning the press corps to falsely accuse me of impersonating a position I once held in the District Attorney’s Office during a robo call in support of Measure A, an initiative placed on the ballot by the Board of Supervisors, that creates a long overdue campaign finance and ethics commission. Only the District Attorney is confused because his motive is utterly political and personal. I clearly started the Measure A call with, “Hello, this is COUNTY SUPERVISOR Todd Spitzer,” unequivocally stating my current position as a County Supervisor.

Santa Ana, CA – Nineteen Orange County residents were selected to serve on the Orange County Grand Jury for the term that begins July 1. Hon. Charles Margines, Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of Orange County, presided over the May 18 court hearing with Alan Carlson, Chief Executive Officer and Jury Commissioner, randomly pulling cards printed with candidate names from the grand jury box, as required by statute.
