The state Fair Political Practices Commission announced this week that it would levy a $2,000 fine against the 2008 ballot measure for a new city hall in Newport Beach, according to this OC Register post.
The FPPC cited the campaign treasurer Lysa Ray for not disclosing the identity of a major donor to the campaign. The donor, John Craul, contributed 95% of the campaign’s funding. The ballot measure eventually paved the way for a new civic center that could cost up $128 million.
The announcement comes off the heels of the city’s approval of initial construction of the site, which I’ve been writing about this week.
