Before he became interested in local politics, Dr. Jim Gardner had successful careers as a Clinical Psychologist, University Professor, software developer, internet marketer, and management consultant.

He lived and worked on 4 continents and in 6 States.

A 35 year resident of Orange County, he moved to Lake Forest more than a decade ago.

Since then, he’s helped organize the South County Animal Shelter Coalition, run for City Council, set up the “Seniors for Seniors” program used by OC Animal Care, and with his wife helped collect and distribute more than 250 tons of pet food to senior citizens and unemployed people.

His passions are animal welfare and maintaining a 3,000 acre rainforest in Brazil. He’s the author of nearly 100 professional books and articles, and has written more than 500 articles about local politics for The Patch and the OC Register.
