YLTA Announces the YLTA Pledge

The mission of the Yorba Linda Taxpayers Association is to inform the citizens of Yorba Linda on matters that impact their taxes and their quality of life. In the spirit of our mission, we are announcing the YLTA Pledge to Ratepayers of the Yorba Linda Water District.

“The ratepayers and voters of YLWD demand lower water rates and transparency. They are fed up with the poor fiscal management and lack of leadership from the Board of Directors,” says YLTA Chairman Jeff Decker. “We developed the Pledge to increase accountability to current and future ratepayers.”

The YLTA Pledge to Ratepayers of the Yorba Linda Water District

The ratepayers of the Yorba Linda Water District (YLWD) will not tolerate the tyranny of excessive water rates, unnecessary penalty schemes and the diversion of excess District profits. YLWD is a government nonprofit and any excess profits are the rightful property of the ratepayers. Regular Board meetings need to be held when the working public can attend and meeting videos and all financial statements should be posted on the District’s web site.

The Yorba Linda Taxpayers Association hereby pledges the following:

  1. We will work to reduce the Yorba Linda Water District flat meter fees by at least 35%, which is approximately a $15 a month reduction for a 1 inch meter and $9 for a 3/4 inch meter.
  2. We will work to refund $4.5 million of the District’s excess net profit to ratepayers. This amounts to an average rebate of $180 per household, depending on the size of your water meter.
  3. We will work to introduce an annual rebate that credits YLWD ratepayer accounts for any excess in the District’s net income.
  4. We will work to make your Water District fully transparent, which includes regular Board meetings in the evening, so you can attend, and posting meeting videos and all financial statements on the District’s web site.
Let’s Take Back Our Water District! Support the YLTA Pledge.
