“Pleasures Along the Beach,” a 1969 mosaic by Millard Sheets. It’s made of thousands of small glass tiles, called tesserae, manufactured by the famed Murano glass artisans of Venice, Italy. This 16.5-feet high, 40-feet long mosaic adorns a former Home Savings and Loan building at 2600 Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica. But it has been gifted to the Hilbert Museum of California Art in Orange, along with two sculptures. Credit: Image courtesy of the Hilbert Museum
