The Voice of OC 2021 Giving Tuesday shop is another way readers can help build a better local news ecosystem for Orange County… and look good while doing it.
Our shop is full of swagger representing Voice of OC, “your check on local government.” We have insulated coffee mugs, tri-blend t-shirts (unisex and women’s), Arts & Culture tote bags, notepads and sweatshirts.
Please make this year’s Giving Tuesday #GivingNewsDay by supporting your local nonprofit and nonpartisan newsroom. NOTE: The deadline to shop is Dec. 15.
In response to initial feedback from some readers, we want to note that these kinds of efforts don’t cost Voice of OC anything to sponsor.
As we offer this merchandise shop through Custom Ink, there’s no inventory carrying costs for our nonprofit. That means Voice of OC will simply benefit from the proceeds of each item sold (along with any additional donations).
This Voice of OC merchandise fundraiser is based directly on the success of the social media-led “Noise of OC” fundraiser earlier this year.
Our newsroom earned the nickname, Noise of OC, after County Supervisors’ Chairman Andrew Do publicly complained during a televised meeting that our reporters ask too many questions and submit too many public records requests under California’s Public Records Act.
A loud chorus of readers immediately reached out, saying they’d buy a T-shirt or schwag emblazoned with the Noise of OC.
We made a special run, working with Custom Ink, which sold out in a day.
That’s prompted us to keep you news junkies – possibly out searching for holiday gifts – in mind.
And since you’ve made it this far,
You are obviously connected to your community and value good journalism. As an independent and local nonprofit, our news is accessible to all, regardless of what they can afford. Our newsroom centers on Orange County’s civic and cultural life, not ad-driven clickbait. Our reporters hold powerful interests accountable to protect your quality of life. But it’s not free to produce. It depends on donors like you.
