Orange County is one of the best places to live in the US in part because it has the world’s best water system. The OC water system is based on its aquifer, recycled water, outstanding conservation and captured storm water in the Santa Ana River. Additional water has traditionally come from Northern California and the Colorado River. Both of these sources are now at risk. If global warming continues, so will the much lower water supplies from these sources. The OC water system was created because 20, 30 and 40 years ago OC rate payers had the vision and commitment to invest in its water future. Investing in the Poseidon desal plant will insure the OC continues to have fresh, reliable water generated by the best local water system, anywhere.
