Harrington: Time to Return Safety and Security to our Public Policy

Harrington adds his voice to the debate over sanctuary cities noting that he would fight back against Sacramento laws limiting local law enforcement interaction with federal immigration authorities.

Harrington: The Time is Now to Protect Our School Children

Steinmetz: Westminster School District Needs Fair Representation for All Parents

Westminster resident Claudia Steinmetz, who is also PTA President for a local school in the Westminster School District writes that school board members are letting parents and kids down in District Two by not holding an election this year. Steinmetz charges that the move is all about protecting incumbents, not getting better education or representation. She wants parents to join her speaking out at the next school board meeting on Jan. 18.

Brill: OC High Schools, Nowhere to Go But Up On Voter Registration 

State officials have designated the last two full weeks in April and September as High School Voter Education Weeks to encourage getting kids pre-registered to vote as early as age 16. Attorney Laura P. Brill says the recognition offers local high schools and their students an important opportunity to partner with county elections officials to promote civic education and participation on campus and foster an environment that cultivates lifelong voters and active citizens.
