The Newport Beach City Council generally meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
This meeting schedule can change, particularly in months with national holidays, so be sure to check the status of a meeting at the agenda link below. Make sure to check the agency’s website also for the latest protocols on in-person and/or virtual attendance.

MEETING TIME: The council’s regular session typically begins at 6 p.m. Study sessions are generally held on the same day as regular City Council meetings and normally begin at 4 p.m. There is not always a study session and the start time is subject to change. If there are any closed session items, that portions comes after the study session but before the regular meeting time.
MEETING LOCATION: Council Chambers – 100 Civic Center Drive, Newport Beach, CA 92660.
Meetings are live-streamed on the city’s website and televised the evening of the meeting by Spectrum channel 3 and Cox Communications channel 852. Meetings are rebroadcast the Sunday following the meeting at 4 p.m., the following Monday at 12 p.m. and the following Tuesday at 4 p.m. until the next meeting is aired.
PUBLIC COMMENT: Residents can submit questions and comments in writing for city council consideration by emailing cityclerk@newportbeachca.gov. Comments must be submitted by 5 p.m. the day prior to a meeting.
Commenters can also speak to the council in person during the meeting. Residents can give comments on items on the agenda or non-agenda items by visiting the city clerk during the meeting. Comments are limited to three minutes per speaker.
