Los Alamitos’ Anti-Sanctuary City Fight Fizzles Out

City Council members through a virtual meeting unanimously repealed an ordinance passed in April 2018, which claimed to exempt the city from the California Values Act, a state law passed in 2017 prohibiting local law enforcement from regularly cooperating with federal immigration authorities. 

Fink: How Many Lawyers For a Political Stunt?

Tustin resident and local attorney Lee Fink writes that despite one’s feelings about challenging the state’s sanctuary state law, Orange County residents do not need to spend even more tax dollars to hire even more lawyers for this case.  Fink notes that it’s financially irresponsible for the Board of Supervisors to spend money on more lawyers for a political stunt.
