Coastal Commissioners are appointed by other elected officials, however, there are no restrictions on who can be appointed as a Commissioner. The proposed “Campaign Finance and Ethics Commission” that will be on the Orange County June 2016 ballot, does NOT ALLOW Lobbyists, Campaign Consultants and Campaign Attorneys, and current elected officials to be on this Commission. The Ethics Commission being proposed for Orange County contains the strictest requirements of any Ethics Commission in California. Too bad the Coastal Commission does not have the same restrictions on who can be appointed.

A really sad an shocking situation all around. There must be new rules to reign in these lobbyists and shape shifts to save our coast for future generations.
