So, went to the swearing for new Council and they read Felz’s resignation letter. He is “retiring to spend more time with his family” as of the end of the month! Good bye! Salud and please don’t drink and drive!

Why has the CITY hired and OUTSIDE FIRM to investigate this incident as a PERSONAL MATTER?? This makes no sense. Since when does the city investigate ‘personal matters’- let alone hire an outside firm? To my knowledge, the last time the city hired an outside firm was to look into FPD practices after the Kelly Thomas murder. There is something very strange going on here….

  • Don Juleff

This is the “good ol boys club” at its worst. Felz gets a paid vacation until the dust dies down, the rest of the club covers and when it is all but forgotten we will here no harm, no foul. It was all done by the book…unless you are John Q. Public. This stinks to the core.

  • OCservant_Leader

The OC Elites are royalty…they don’t follow ANY law. They are the LAW.

Public Records…are secret –then sanitized for public consumption.

    Where is the MADD? ?

This DUI is disgraceful and the cover up is another example of the Fullerton corruption that continues since the Kelly Thomas murder.

    • LFOldTimer

MADD? ha. They work hand in hand with the da & the cops and are tied in politically.

You expect MADD to object??? ha.

Interesting that the Police Chief resigned and took a job at Disneyland when this story broke. 🙂

      • David Zenger

“MADD? ha. They work hand in hand with the da & the cops and are tied in politically”

You’d think they’d be all over this. But then I thought the Human Relations Commission would be all over the Kelly Thomas killing. Oh, wait. No I didn’t.

In 2009 the OCSD Harbormaster (a lieutenant) who was under the influence and blew a .14% got into an accident in Irvine on Jamboree Rd. while driving her official unmarked police vehicle. She didn’t hit a tree either. She slammed into the rear of another car. Eventually she pled ‘no contest’. One would think that would be sufficient to result in termination from the OCSD payroll, right? Nope. She kept her magic green uniform, gun and badge. As far as I know she kept her rank too.

What would happen to a private company employee who caused an accident while under the influence in a company car?

I don’t recall any inquiries or complaints from MADD at that time either. Strange how that works.

      • loudchapina

He resigned via a letter at tonight’s swearing in!

  • Paul Lucas

Im of the belief this will be kicked down the road til its forgotten. This is a case that amplifies the need to repeal POBOR and laws like it that allow this type of secrecy to go on.

    • LFOldTimer

As long as the police unions can buy off the politicians POBOR is here to stay. It’s a dirty and corrupted system that I don’t see changing anytime soon.

      Welcome to the new America.

  • LFOldTimer

Come on. Nothing will come of this. More whitewash. Don’t you realize that Felz is a gold-card club member? How other people do you know who had booze on their breath, jumped a curb in their ride and crashed into a tree at 1 o’ clock in the morning then are not required to take a breathalyzer then get a ride home from the cops afterwards? lol.

Grow up everybody. We’re adults for God sakes. Connect the dots.

Internal Affairs investigates cops, not city managers. So what was forwarded to the DA?

    • Rivett

There’s a “personnel” “investigation” so they don’t have to talk about what Joe Felz did.

There’s an “internal affairs” “investigation” so they don’t have to talk about what the cops did.

I think a basket of fruit from Harry & David was forwarded to the DA.

      • David Zenger

I’m afraid you are 100% correct. Except that I wonder if anything was sent to the DA at all.
