Last weekend, thousands gathered in Santa Ana to run through the city’s closed streets.
Some, dressed in neon, celebrated the 80’s theme in over two different races.
The 10k, which is 6.2 miles.

Editor’s note: This is an occasional series where Voice of OC works with local community photographers to offer residents a first-hand look at the local sites and scenes of Orange County.
The 5k which is 3.1 miles.
Younger runners also had their own dedicated race, the “Kids Dash.”
Against the tunes of 80’s music, runners cheered and danced to the beat of their run.
Some of the attendees have made running a part of their lives.

Runners like Justin Ang who is part of Keep Running Santa Ana, a community running group.
“I love to run, and being a part of the running community is great,” said Ang.
“It does everything for me; it’s my life.”

“We’ve been doing the free 5k since it started; we try and do it every year,” said Justin Colintino, Ang’s partner.
Other runners took it as an opportunity to get some exercise in, or cheer the runners on from the sidelines.

The race started outside Santa Ana Stadium, ran up and down Broadway, Main St., and Civic Center Drive, passing by Santa Ana Public Library and the YMCA, and finished alongside the courthouse on N. Flower St.

Another pair of runners, Moses and Sergio Hernandez, a father-son duo, were out early in the morning running the fun run.
Moses said his run “went alright, it was fun!”
