All evacuation orders and warnings in Orange County’s canyons were lifted Friday morning after over four inches of rain fell in the area yesterday, causing several creeks to overflow and flood some of the roads.
Trabuco Canyon Road is expected to remain closed through Friday evening, while Trabuco Creek Road will remain closed until early next week so crews can clear out debris and reposition barriers, according to a county news release.
Nearly four inches of rain fell over the past 24 hours in Modjeska Canyon, with over five inches recorded in the neighboring Silverado Canyon according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The mudslides came after last year’s Airport Fire burned over 23,000 acres when a county public works crew accidentally started a fire in the canyons.

It’s not the first time these neighborhoods have had to evacuate over the last few years, facing similar mudslides after the Canyon 2 Fire, the Bond Fire and the Silverado Fires.
