E-bikes aren’t the problem – unsafe ebike-riders are. We should approach this issue that same way we do automobiles: a clear set of vehicle regulations and a clear set of operator safety laws. We don’t have different laws in every city for automobiles and we shouldn’t have them for e-bikes. Weak bicycle infrastructure and failure to enforce existing laws are part of the problem.
