A Huntington Beach escrow company is under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s office for allegedly embezzling $450,000 in federal grants from Seal Beach, the Orange County Register reported today.

The firm, Rehab Financial, also had contracts with Westminster, La Habra and Buena Park, the paper reported, but said police were uncertain how much money was taken from those communities.

Seal Beach is among a dozen California cities that contracted with Rehab Financial for escrow services for Federal Community Development Block Grant Funding and Redevelopment Agency housing funds, Seal Beach police said.
