Wanda Shaffer is a director of the League of Women Voters of North Orange County Observer Corps, which covers five city councils and the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

Shaffer is a past president of the league. She has served two terms on the Orange County grand jury, is a former Einstein Fellow at the National Science Foundation and worked on presidential awards of excellence in mathematics and science teaching.

Shaffer spent 38 years as a public school teacher before retiring.
