This week on PBS SoCaL, we delve into the controversy surrounding the Anaheim City Council majority taking away some of Mayor Tom Tait’s agenda powers.

The action prompted criticism from activists, who said it was retaliation against Tait for planning public discussions about the controversial Angel Stadium lease negotiations at every council meeting.

Three members of the council majority said it was simply a technical cleanup of policy, while one of the majority members said it was in reaction to Tait’s efforts to place more stadium discussions on the agenda.

We also discuss:

  • Challenges in balancing hikers, cyclists and horseback riders in Orange County’s open space.
  • County supervisors’ troubling questions about possible bid rigging for ambulance services.
  • Generous payouts to high-ranking county officials for unused sick and vacation time.

Voice of OC’s weekly news segments are broadcast on PBS SoCaL Wednesdays and Fridays at 5 p.m.
