Changing of the Flags Ceremony in the Orange County Civic Center, Plaza of the Flags 

WHO: (Orange County, CA) — Board of Supervisors Chairman Todd Spitzer, First District Supervisor Andrew Do, the County of Orange, Association of California Cities-Orange County, the City of Santa Ana and the Orange County Civic Center Authority.

WHEN: Wednesday, November 18, 2015 @ 4:00 PM 

WHAT: The Orange County Civic Center in Santa Ana includes the Plaza of the Flags, located in a prominent location visible from the County Courthouse. Since the 1970’s the Plaza of the Flags has displayed the flags of our fifty States. On July 23, 2015, the Orange County Civic Center Authority approved a plan to repurpose the Plaza of the Flags with the flags of Orange County cities, the County of Orange the State of California, the United States of America, the five branches of the Armed Services, and the POW-MIA flag.

Each of the 34 cities in Orange County have provided artwork for their flag to be flown in the Plaza of the Flags. The Changing of the Flags Ceremony will provide the opportunity for the current state flags to be respectively honored and retired. In addition, the new City flags will be raised to celebrate Orange County.

SPEAKERS: Al Murray, President of ACC-OC and Tustin Councilmember; Ashleigh Aitken, President; Ashleigh Aitken, President Orange County Bar Association; Bobby McDonald, Orange County Veterans Advisory Council Chair; Donald Craig, President – NAACP, Orange County Branch; Michelle Steel, Second District Supervisor; Miguel Pulido, Mayor of the City of Santa Ana; Rev. Mark Whitlock Jr. Senior Minister, Christ Our Redeemer AME Church; and Todd Spitzer, Chairman and Third District Supervisor.

WHERE: Plaza of the Flags, Orange County Civic Center Parking is accessible in the lot east of the 6th St. and Flower St. intersection. There will be directional signs guiding attendees between the Central Justice Center and the OC Public Law Library. (See map below)
