The city of Westminster has hired Mike Harary as its new director of human resources & risk management.

The city previously combined its HR Director and finance director roles into one position, last held by Michael Solorza. Both roles were vacant after Solorza was fired earlier this year.

Harary, who comes from the City of Orange where he was the assistant human resources director for nine years, started in Westminster on Nov. 17. His annual salary is $139,320, according to Assistant City Manager Chet Simmons.

The city has yet to hire a permanent finance director. An independent consultant, Irwin Bornstein, is advising city officials on budget issues in the meantime.
