If home is where the heart is, then all of us who call Orange County home will have a unique opportunity to give where our hearts live April 27-28, 2016, during the second annual iheartoc Giving Day sponsored by Orange County Community Foundation.
Are you inspired to help students through after-school programs? Support research to find a cure? Maybe art is where your heart is. Whatever your passion, iheartoc Giving Day is a great way to show your love for our community! And with 418 organizations participating this year, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to support the causes closest to your heart.
You can support your favorite nonprofit by visiting iheartoc.org from your smartphone, tablet or PC during the 30-hour giving marathon. Every dollar donated will be leveraged by bonus awards and prizes to increase the impact of your contribution.
Last year, in celebration its 25th anniversary, OCCF challenged Orange County residents to “give where their heart lives” during the inaugural iheartoc Giving Day.
The goal was simple: inspire giving – especially among first-time donors – and raise awareness for local nonprofits. And our community more than rose to the occasion. OCCF counted 6,139 contributions totaling more than $1.8 million in just 30 hours for 347 participating nonprofits across Orange County.
The majority of donations – 65 percent – were $50 or less, demonstrating that smaller gifts add up. Each donation, no matter the amount, helps local nonprofits provide much-needed services to neighbors in need. Plus, the ease of iheartoc online giving showed that acts of generosity don’t have to take a lot of time. In this case, it took only a click to show you care.
How Does It Work?
It’s easy! Just go to iheartoc.org during the 30-hour giving marathon to get started. All donations must be made on the secure Giving Day website, which is populated with searchable profiles of participating local nonprofits. Although the minimum donation is $25, the sky is the limit when it comes to giving!
Every donation is tax-deductible, and each dollar donated will be leveraged by bonus awards and prizes to increase the impact of your contribution. The leaderboard will show a running tally throughout the event so you can keep tabs on your favorite organizations along the way.
And be sure to follow #iheartoc across your favorite social media channels. You won’t want to miss any exciting tweet, Instagram-worthy moment or gotta-love-it Facebook post.
Whatever your passion, iheartoc Giving Day is the perfect way to put your philanthropy into action. Please visitiheartoc.org – and let’s come together to show our local nonprofits how much we care!
