City of Anaheim Councilman Brandman leads group of local leaders calling for justice for Millennium Reinforcing Inc. workers

On Tuesday, October 11th at 10am, a worker coalition, Millennium Reinforcing Workers for Justice and Dignity, will host a rally at Anaheim City Hall alongside with Anaheim City Council Member Jordan Brandman, CA Assembly Member Tom Daly, the Orange County Labor Federation and the Los Angeles/Orange County Building and Construction Trades Council to demand justice for Millennium Reinforcing workers.

In early July of 2016 one Millennium worker went on strike. Since then, three more workers have followed due to their horrific working conditions, including low wages, lack of basic skills and safety training, disrespect and abusive language.

Millennium Reinforcing has done rebar work on multiple residential projects within the Platinum Triangle including A-Town, The George, and the Jefferson Platinum Triangle. Developers’ use of this disreputable company has put Anaheim at the center of the workers’ fight for better conditions and a voice on the job.

At the event, striking workers will share stories about the mistreatment and abuse they have endured while working for Millennium Reinforcing. Local elected officials and labor leaders will call on developers to use responsible companies that respect their workers and value quality work rather than contractors with abhorrent practices focused solely on the bottom line like Millennium Reinforcing Inc.

What: Millennium Reinforcing Workers for Justice and Dignity rally and press conference to highlight deplorable working conditions at Millennium Reinforcing Inc.

When: Tuesday, October 11th, 10am

Where: Steps outside Anaheim City Hall, 200 S Anaheim Blvd. Anaheim, CA

Who: Workers, politicians and labor leaders of Orange County Labor Federation, Los Angeles/Orange County Building and Construction Trades Council and Iron Workers local 416

Speakers will include:

  • Ron Miller, Los Angeles/Orange County Building and Construction Trades Council
  • Hart Keeble, Business Manager for Ironworkers Local 416
  • Tom Daly, CA Assembly member 69th District
  • Julio Perez, Executive Director of the Orange County Labor Federation
