Voice of OC exists to serve Orange County residents to deliver the unfettered truth, tell important community stories and convene the public for civil discussions.

And now we can serve residents even better – not by creating our own costly mobile app – but by bringing our news to apps already on your phone or tablet.

As a small news organization, the decision to deliver our news through industry-leading mobile apps liberates us from spending donations on costly development fees. This move is win-win: readers get access to our news on their favorite devices and donors know their support goes straight to supporting our award-winning journalism (rather than app development).

With the launch this week of a custom Voice of OC presence in Apple News, the nonprofit news you depend on is available for iPhones, Androids and tablets. Remember to support us when you can, particularly during our year-end fundraising drive starting Nov. 1 when your donation will be tripled.

  • Apple News: Our channel features a custom Voice of OC look and feel. And just like our website, it’s free of charge and free of ads. Available on iPhones, iPads and in the Mac app. Plus, it has a custom dark mode reading design. (CLICK HERE to follow us)
  • Google News: We have a Voice of OC look and feel here too, and you can follow us on your phone, tablet or in your web browser. Also free of charge and free of ads. (CLICK HERE to follow us)
  • Flipboard: A great lean-back Voice of OC experience on your phone or tablet. Also free of charge and free of ads. (CLICK HERE to follow us)

Since you've made it this far,

You are obviously connected to your community and value good journalism. As an independent and local nonprofit, our news is accessible to all, regardless of what they can afford. Our newsroom centers on Orange County’s civic and cultural life, not ad-driven clickbait. Our reporters hold powerful interests accountable to protect your quality of life. But it’s not free to produce. It depends on donors like you.
