An Irvine slate mailer committee, has raised nearly $250,000 so far for Democratic candidates for City Council and ballot measures, according to electronic filings with the California Secretary of State.

In the past, such slate mailers have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and received money from other committees that were bankrolled by, among other sources, no-bid contractors at the Great Park. They have been credited with helping to keep the Democratic majority in power.

Among the committees that have funneled cash to the Voter Assistance Guide are these: Irvine Yes on R and S for a Safe and Healthy Community; Orange County Yes on 22, No on 23 and the Orange County Victory Fund.

Disclosure forms from these committees show contributions from wealthy heiress Anne Earhart; Great Park neighborhood developer Heritage Fields; and Gafcon Inc., the park’s design manager.

We’ll report other contributors as late contribution filings come in.
