Thursday, July 14, 2011 | The city of Santa Ana has made an offer to a candidate for its vacant city attorney position and is awaiting acceptance of the offer, according to City Hall sources.

Santa Ana has been without a city attorney since Joe Fletcher retired late last year, a departure that was part of a major turnover in leadership at City Hall that has also included the retirements of City Manager Dave Ream and Cindy Nelson, executive director of the Community Development Agency.

Little is known about the candidate, but Voice of OC has confirmed that the candidate is not already employed by the city. Interim City Attorney Joe Straka had applied for the job but was not one of the final two candidates, according to City Hall sources.
