Incumbent Miguel Pulido is leading Councilman David Benavides in the Race for Santa Ana mayor, according to initial results from absentee ballots.

Pulido garnered 48.5 percent of the absentee vote, while Benavides has 23.9 percent. Republican George Collins is third with 16.4 percent, while Lupe Moreno, Roy Alvarado and Miguel Briseno all have less than 5 percent.

If Pulido hangs on, he will win an unprecedented tenth term and hand the so-called “Santa Ana Spring” movement a defeat.

Keep in mind that we are still awaiting results from today’s voting.
