This week on PBS SoCaL we delve into a volunteer’s successful effort to find one of the two lost hikers in the South Orange County wilderness earlier this year.
Costa Mesa resident John Sendry used free downloadable software to map out areas that had been searched and determine where he should look. Ultimately he led rescuers to Kyndall Jack’s location.
We also discuss:
- A controversial plan by Orange County supervisors to get a charitable tax deduction for paying into their own pensions.
- Air pollution regulators refusing to hand over emails showing internal discussions of a proposed ban on beach bonfires.
- The state Supreme Court’s unanimous ruling that the county must provide its digital property maps for free and pay the Sierra Club’s $1-million legal bill.
Voice of OC’s weekly news segments are broadcast on PBS SoCaL Wednesdays and Fridays at 5 p.m.
