VROC Bring Back the Night Flyer 2015

Press Releases
Voice of OC posts press releases as a way of providing readers with information directly from businesses, cities, county and state agencies, political organizations and nonprofits. We do not edit or rewrite press releases. We allow readers to comment on releases, and we encourage readers to contact the originator of a given release for more information. To submit a press release email engagement editor Julie Gallego at jgallego@voiceofoc.org.

Over the past year, we have all collectively witnessed great public shifts in recognizing the equality rights of the LGBTQ community. Marriage equality and transgender visibility signify our movement. While these moments are significant, there is still a lot of work to do to heal our community. The rates of homeless LGBTQ youth at 40% and transgender individuals experiencing suicides nine (9) times the national average are unacceptable. These figures remind us that our work around advocacy, visibility, family support, outreach and education is critical in combating these alarming statistics.

In celebration of our successes and commitment meeting our goals, VROC is set to host its 3rd Annual Fundraising Event, “Bring Back the Night: Prom through the Decades,” on October 23, 2015 at VENUE in Huntington Beach, CA. Recognizing the importance of community, we ask for your support: together with our shared belief in recognizing diversity, your participation cements your commitment to fostering inclusive communities.

The event will feature live performances, drag show, and dancing. All funds raised will assist VROC in fulfilling its mission to offer:

-Peer Mentoring
-Health and Wellness Workshops
-Parents and Family Visibility Project
-Public Service Announcement Initiative
-Leadership Development Program
