SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — The Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD) Board of Trustees approved the appointments of three principals at the October 21 Special Board meeting. Strengthening CUSD’s administrative team are Meg Ervais as Principal of Junipero Serra High School in San Juan Capistrano, Andrew Klinkenberg, as Principal at George White Elementary School in Laguna Niguel and Krystal Allen as Principal at Don Juan Avila Elementary School in Aliso Viejo. “I am thrilled for the students, families and communities who will be led by these three extraordinary people,” stated Superintendent Kirsten Vital. “CUSD’s mission is to prepare our students to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world and we are continuously striving to promote and recruit the best of the best for our children. We will all be well served by Meg, Andrew and Krystal.”

For the past 24 years, Ms. Ervais has served the communities of Capistrano Unified School District as a bi-lingual teacher, assistant principal and principal. Most recently Ms. Ervais served as the K-8 administrator for the Capistrano Virtual and Capistrano Home School programs. Ms. Ervais’ knowledge, background and leadership skills will positively serve students who need an alternative to the comprehensive high school setting and support them in achieving their potential.

Mr. Klinkenberg was appointed to serve as principal of George White Elementary School. Mr. Klinkenberg served in the Anaheim Unified School District or the past 12 years, teaching grades 1, 3, 5 and 6, giving him a perspective of student and staff needs across an elementary school site. For the past five years, Mr. Klinkenberg has served as an Interim Principal and Vice Principal Mr. Klinkenberg’s experiences and background will be an asset to our District.

Ms. Krystal Allen was appointed to serve as principal of Don Juan Avila Elementary School (DJAES). Ms. Allen has been serving as the administrator there since a vacancy was created earlier this year. Prior to her arrival, Ms. Allen served as an assistant principal of Newhart Middle School. Ms. Allen’s experience also includes teaching special education classes at the high school level and serving as a Curriculum Specialist and Autism Focus Teacher. Ms. Allen’s background and experience in special education and technology will be a great benefit for students, families, teachers, and staff.
