SANTA ANA, Calif. – From October 16 through November 16, John Wayne Airport (JWA) is featuring a collection of Carl Lind’s artwork as part of JWA’s Community Focus Space Program. The mixed-media artwork can be viewed on the Departure (upper) Level near the security screening areas in Terminals A, B and C, and on the Arrival (lower) Level adjacent to Baggage Carousels 1 and 4.
This exhibit displays a selection of Lind’s mixed-media artwork developed between 2008 and 2012. He incorporates staged photographic elements and hand editing to create a story within a scene. These elements add a bit of humor to his pictures. A longtime North Tustin resident, some of Lind’s favorite scenes feature Old Town Tustin.
Images of Lind’s works can be seen here.
“I am truly honored to have my artwork displayed at John Wayne Airport,” said Carl Lind. “Their Community Focus Space Program does a wonderful job of encouraging and promoting local Orange County artists.”
Lind credits his parents for his passion, curiosity, creativity, persistence and aptitudes. Studying engineering at Cal Poly Pomona, Lind began his career as an aerospace engineer. Twenty years later he transitioned from engineer to ‘stay at home Dad’ and began delving into the arts. Lind dappled in ‘wood art,’ selling many pieces wholesale and eventually through his own retail store. He went on to open art stores in Irvine and Tustin to teach art, paint ceramics and take portrait photography. This year, Lind will again show his and his daughter’s illuminated artwork at the 2015 Winter Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach where he has exhibited since 2008.
Upcoming Community Focus Space Program artists include Dori Murnieks (November 17 – December 16) and Leonard Myszynski (December 17 – January 14). To learn more about JWA’s Art Programs, visit www.ocair.com/terminal/artexhibits.
