Orange County Registrar of Voters Certifies Water Rate Referendum Petition

The Yorba Linda Taxpayers Association (YLTA) is pleased to announce that, on October 22, the Orange County Registrar of Voters certified the referendum petition to overturn the massive water rate increase imposed by the Yorba Linda Water District (YLWD). A copy of the certification is on the next pages.

Under State law, the rate increase must be suspended retroactive to the Registrar’s certification date and the Water Board must address the certification at its next regularly scheduled meeting (November 12). At that time, the Board can choose to rescind the increase or place the question to the voters of the District in an election. Should an election occur, the rate increase will remain suspended until decided by the voters.

YLTA would like to thank our dedicated team of 56 volunteers and over 5500 registered voters and customers of the YLWD who signed the referendum and came together to have our collective voices heard. The citizens have complied with the law and now it is time for the YLWD Board to do the same.

YLTA is asking Water District customers to contact the Board of Directors before their November 12 meeting and let the Board know where they stand on rescinding the rate increase or an election, as well as any legal attempts by the Board to delay the process and the suspension of the rate increase.

The Board can be contacted at:

YLWD Board of Directors 1717 E. Miraloma Ave. Placentia, CA 92870

Once again, YLTA would like to thank the voters and customers of the Yorba Linda Water District.
