CALOPTIMA CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY WITH COMMUNITY AT HEALTH AND WELLNESS EVENT

 OC Supervisors and more than 70 organizations to participate at family-friendly event 

WHAT: This year marks the 20th anniversary of CalOptima, an Orange County public agency and health plan that provides health insurance for more than 750,000 low- income children, adults, seniors and people living with disabilities. To celebrate, CalOptima is hosting a Health and Wellness Community Event as part of its continued commitment to providing access to quality health care through provider and local partnerships.

OPPORTUNITIES: Visuals include:

 Community members receiving free preventive health services, including flu shots and health screenings for high blood pressure and cholesterol.

 Children receiving dental and vision screenings.

 Families enjoying the kids’ activity zone.

 Live performances by senior hula and folklorico dancers.

 A presentation honoring the 20th anniversary featuring local officials.

INTERVIEWS: Interviews are available with:

 CalOptima CEO Michael Schrader, who can reflect on how the agency serves as a model for other publicly funded health plans across the state.

 Orange County Supervisors and CalOptima Board Members Lisa Bartlett and Andrew Do, who can discuss the important role that CalOptima plays in the community.

 Representatives from leading community-based organizations and provider groups, who can highlight their strong dedication to serving CalOptima’s membership, which includes 1 in 3 Orange County children.
