Orange County GOP Unites with Early Endorsement for Supervisor Andrew Do

(Santa Ana, California) – The Orange County Republican Party is united behind Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do, who is seeking re-election to theFirst District seat on the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

Republican volunteers and party leaders said Supervisor Andrew Do earned the pre-primary, pre-filing deadline endorsement as a result of his record on public safety.

“In his first year on the job, Supervisor Andrew Do has increased funding for Orange County law enforcement agencies, cut taxes on small businesses and consistently defended Prop. 13,” said Orange County Republican Party Chairman Fred Whitaker. “Supervisor Andrew Do has earned our endorsement, and Orange County Republicans are 100% committed to his re-election.

2015: 61% for GOP Candidates

The early endorsement, which passed without opposition, effectively clears the field of any Republican challengers – a move that transforms the dynamics of the race. In the January 2015 special election, Andrew Do defeated Democrat Lou Correa by just 43 votes, but the four Republican candidates earned a combined 61 percent of the vote.

A united Republican Party has a track record of success in the First District. In 2007, then-Garden Grove Councilwoman Janet Nguyen claimed a 3-vote victory in a special election for the seat. The following June, as an incumbent Republican supervisor, she went on to win 56 percent of the vote in spite of the Democratic turnout surge for Barack Obama.

OC GOP Walking Door-to-Door

By endorsing before the filing deadline, the OC GOP can recruit volunteers and grassroots activists to walk precincts and phone-bank in support of Andrew Do’s campaign.

“Orange County Republicans are already walking precincts to tell our friends and neighbors about the great work Andrew’s doing for Orange County taxpayers,” said Maribel Marroquin, a Santa Ana resident and active Republican leader.

A former Orange County prosecutor, Supervisor Andrew Do represents the First District communities of Garden Grove, Fountain Valley, Midway City, Santa Ana & Westminster.
