TOWN HALL MEETING

Costa Mesa First and Costa Mesans for Responsible Government co-sponsor Town Hall concerning update of General Plan and ballot measures

(COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA) – June 1, 2016 –Costa Mesa First (CostaMesa1st.com) and Costa Mesans for Responsible Government (CM4RG.org), along with Fairview Park Preservation Alliance and Banning Ranch Conservancy, are giving presentations at a Town Hall on Thursday, June 9, at 6:30 p.m. in the Costa Mesa Community Center, 1845 Park Avenue, Costa Mesa. The topic is “The Past, Present and Future of Costa Mesa: The General Plan and The Citizens’ ‘Smart Growth Initiative’

Speakers will report on the changes to the General Plan proposed by the City of Costa Mesa which will be voted on by the City Council later this month. Specific topics include an overview of urban planning, and the proposed changes to the use of land and the resulting impacts on traffic. There will be information on hot topics such as overlay zoning areas; preserving neighborhoods; open space and parks (including Fairview Park); impacts of Banning Ranch; and the initiatives that are anticipated to be on the November ballot.

Posters displaying the proposed changes to the General Plan, handouts and resource materials will be available. There will be a question and answer period and other opportunities to make comments that will be passed on to the city’s planners and the City Council.

All residents of Costa Mesa are encouraged to attend so they can learn how the City’s proposed changes will affect their lives. Costa Mesa First and Costa Mesans for Responsible Government commend the Planning Department staff’s outreach process and are providing this event as an additional opportunity to learn about and add to the discussion of a vision for the future of Costa Mesa.
