Garden Grove Educators Choose Walter Muneton for School Board

Garden Grove, Calif. – The Garden Grove Education Association has endorsed Walter Muneton for Garden Grove School Board, Trustee Area 3.

The Garden Grove Education Association represents the teachers, nurses, and librarians of the Garden Grove Unified School District. Affiliated with the California Teachers Association and the National Education Association, GGEA has been representing Garden Grove teachers since 1948.

“Walter Muneton was unanimously endorsed by the 2000 member Garden Grove Education Association,” said Tina Gustin-Gurney, President of the GGEA. “The teachers, nurses and librarians believe that Walter’s personal experiences, education, both secondary and university, uniquely qualify him to serve on the Board of Trustees.”

“To receive the support of the Educators from the school district that helped shape who I am today is very heartwarming,” said Walter. “I look forward in working with our librarians, educators, and nurses so all students regardless of where they live, have a chance to succeed.”

The Garden Grove Education Association is major addition to Walter’s lead of endorsements from UNITE HERE Local 11, Orange County Employees Association, Classified School Employees Association-Chapter 121 and several local elected officials.

Walter was born and raised in Garden Grove, and is a product of Garden Grove Unified School District after having graduated from Santiago High School. For the past 5 years, Walter has been working as a Youth Mentor, Case Manager, and Director at the Boys and Girls Club of Garden Grove, providing access to critical health, diversion, and education programs to students and their families. He also serves as a Neighborhood Improvement & Conservation Commissioner for the city of Garden Grove.

Walter lives with his wife, Yesenia, in Garden Grove. They both attended all the schools that pertain to Garden Grove’s School Board Trustee Area 3, which covers portions of Garden Grove and Santa Ana.
