ROSIE’S GARAGE TUTORING SITE IN LA HABRA CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Date of Event: La Habra, California, August 20, 2016 – 25th Anniversary Celebration Commemorating 25 years of Learning, Growth, and Mentoring at La Habra Community Center.
It was 25 years ago that Rose Espinoza opened the garage doors of her La Habra home as a safe haven for students to learn, do homework, and has been instrumental in helping kids stay in school and move on to college. Since then, Rosie’s Garage has become a nonprofit institution and has helped hundreds of school-age children improve academically, become role models, and contribute to their community. Even more, Rosie’s Garage has helped to diminish crime rate in the area and improve the quality of life in the community.
On August 20, 2016 with doors opening at 4:00 p.m., Rosie’s Garage will host an evening of celebration that will include a gourmet dinner prepared by A & E Catering, dancing and live band entertainment with Powerhouse as the opening band and featuring the Band Suavé to play afterwards. Jimmy Reyes, radio personality will be the M.C. for the evening. Be prepared to have fun listening to great music, dancing, playing a game called “Quartermania”, participating in a silent auction, win raffle prizes, hear from past students, mingle with friends, and join with us to celebrate how Rosie’s Garage has improved the lives of so many.
“I am so grateful to the greater community of La Habra for 25 years of continued support.”, says Rose Espinoza, founder and CEO of Rosie’s Garage.
Tickets cost $35 in advance and $40 at the door. All proceeds will benefit Rosie’s Garage, a federally recognized nonprofit that has been in operation serving the children of the La Habra community for the past 25 years as an after-school homework and tutoring service. This program currently serves 50 plus students four days a week on Grace Street in La Habra.
Some of the major sponsors for the event are Clearinghouse CDFI, D’Angelo Company, Shepard Bros, NeighborWorks Orange County, and Jones & Mayer.
The celebration will take place at the Coleman Hall at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 900 W. La Habra Blvd, La Habra, CA 90631 from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm. All proceeds from this event will go to support Rosie’s Garage programs directly benefitting children from low income families.
