Fullerton, CA – Former State Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva announced her endorsement of Josh Newman’s campaign for State Senate today. Quirk-Silva previously represented, and is again running to represent, the north Orange County-based 65th Assembly District, which has significant overlap with the Senate seat the Newman is seeking to represent.

In announcing her support, Quirk-Silva stated:
“Josh Newman’s passion for public service is obvious, and his wide range of experiences and record of accomplishments, across a wide range of disciplines, will serve our region well. His
advocacy for veterans, especially those returning to California at the completion of their military
service, is exemplary. I am excited to announce my endorsement of his campaign.”

Quirk-Silva represented the 65th Assembly District from 2012 to 2014. Prior to serving in the Assembly, she was a member of the Fullerton City Council.

California’s 29th Senate District is a Democratic-leaning swing-seat, which is home to more registered Democrats than Republicans. Newman and fellow Democrat Sukhee Kang combined to earn over 56% of the vote in June’s Primary Election.
