As a school trustee, Bao brought bilingual education to our schools and ensured all parents had a voice in the decision making process. As our mayor, he has fought for a transparent government. I trust he will be a champion for the people of the 46th Congressional District.

Walter Muneton joins a list of prominent Latino leaders, officials, and groups who are united in their support for Mayor Nguyen’s congressional campaign, including Lyo Figueroa, President of the Orange County Hispanic Bar Association* (OCHBA), Sergio C. Bao Nguyen, who was a member of the Garden Grove Unified School District board where he improved the quality of our children’s education, and defended our children from the national crisis of bullying and discrimination, had the following response:

I am honored to have the support of Trustee-elect Walter Muneton, who has done so much to contribute to the City of Garden Grove in the fields of education and conservation. In Congress, I will continue to work so that our students can receive the quality education they deserve, that our public colleges are more affordable, and that we ease the burden of college tuition and debt for parents and students.

After serving as a local community organizer, and then on Garden Grove’s school board, Bao Nguyen was elected Mayor of Garden Grove in 2014. As Mayor, he has supported immigration reform, signing the amicus brief on United States v. Texas in support of DACA and DAPA. Upon his swearing-in, he became the first directly-elected Vietnamese American Democratic Mayor in the United States. When elected, he will be the first openly gay immigrant to serve in Congress.
