Orange County, CA — Today, Garden Grove Mayor Bao Nguyen formally issued a debate challenge to Lou Correa for California’s 46th Congressional District race in Orange County. Mayor Nguyen challenged Correa to three hour-long debates. Each debate will be In the 3 major languages reflective of the 46th Congressional District; English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
Mayor Nguyen wrote the following letter to Lou Correa:

Dear Lou,
In Orange County, it’s important that our voters are fully informed about which candidate can best represent the interests of working families and small business owners in Washington, DC. As candidates for Congressional office, I believe that we must both engage in public debates so that we can discuss our differences in policy, leadership style, and experience. Voters need to hear for themselves and we must earn their vote.
I’m writing to you today to propose three debates for the voters of the 46th Congressional District, one in English, one in Spanish, and one in Vietnamese. I hope you will agree that voters deserve nothing less than a spirited debate over the critical issues that matter most to them, such as immigration, health care, education and jobs.
I propose that the debates occur in October, and that they be live-streamed and simulcast in the three languages most spoken in the district, and to make other arrangements between our campaigns so that voters are well-served and that the debates are productive and informative.
We must debate the important issues that face our community. I hope voters can count on us to engage and inform the people of the 46th Congressional District as they choose their next representative.

Estimado Lou,
En el Condado de Orange, es importante que nuestros votantes estén completamente informados sobre qué candidato puede representar mejor los intereses de las familias trabajadoras y propietarios de negocios pequeños en Washington, DC. Como candidatos a la oficina del Congreso, creo que ambos debemos participar en debates públicos para que podamos discutir nuestras diferencias en la póliza, estilos de liderazgo y experiencia. Los votantes necesitan escuchar por sí mismos y debemos merecer sus votos.
Hoy me dirijo a usted para proponer tres debates para los votantes del 46 Distrito del Congreso, uno en Inglés, uno en español y otro en vietnamita. Espero que estes de acuerdo que los votantes merecen nada menos que un debate animoso sobre los temas críticos de más importancia para ellos, como la inmigración, la salud, la educación y empleos.
Propongo que los debates ocurran en octubre, y que sean transmitidos con ‘live-streaming’ y simultáneamente en los tres idiomas más hablados en el distrito, y para los votantes sean bien servidos y que los debates sean productivos e informativos.
Debemos debatir los temas importantes que enfrenta nuestra comunidad. Espero que los votantes pueden contar con nosotros para atraer e informar a la gente del 46 Distrito del Congreso, ya que pronto van a elegir su próximo representante.
