Sheriff’s Deputy Says, Despite Gap in Jail Log, Deputies Never Stopped Making Entries

Orange County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Jonathan Larson testified at a court hearing Thursday that he recalled continuous use of the Special Handling log, daily notes kept by jail deputies, during his year in the Special Handling unit, the same year there is an unexplained six-month gap in the log.

As of Monday evening, Jan. 25, the OC Health Care Agency reports 1,330 new cases, 66 new deaths (2,704 cumulative) and 1,703 current hospitalizations (447 of those in ICU). As of the weekly update on Jan. 17, a total of 108,812 vaccination doses have been given (88,539 first doses and 20,272 second doses).
