The city must make large cuts to public safety if it wants to
remain solvent, but reducing costs at the fire department could
prove difficult.
Supervisor Janet Nguyen said complaints spurred her to propose
changes to the CalOptima board. Yet records show only five in four
months.
Official says the greatly increased need “is a new experience
for Orange County.”
In September, the city had only $313,343 in the bank but will
finish the year with a $2.7-million balance, says the city’s
finance director.
Five-year, $500,000 deal comes after contentious debate. Swap

of lease termination.
