Correa’s Keeps Up Endorsement Winning Streak, Builds Dynamic Support in Congressional Bid
SANTA ANA, CA— Landing another crucial endorsement in his campaign to represent California’s 46th Congressional District seat, today former State Senator Lou Correa won support of Congressman Juan Vargas.
Congressman Vargas represents California’s 51st District. Before being elected to Congress, Vargas served as a colleague of Correa’s in the State Senate and State Assembly. Before state office, Vargas served on the San Diego City Council.
In announcing his support of former Senator Correa, Congressman Juan Vargas stated:
“Lou Correa’s unrivaled experience of serving in local and state office makes him extraordinarily prepared to serve in the United States House of Representatives. I’ve seen him lead in the state legislature on so many issues, build coalitions around key policies, and solve problems. We need more leaders with these qualities in Washington, and that’s why I’m pleased to endorse Lou Correa for Congress.”
Significantly, former State Senator Lou Correa has built up a commanding lead in the battle to secure important endorsements, stemming from his roll out of the following influential backers:
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair and Congresswoman Linda Sánchez
Congresswoman & former State Assembly Speaker Karen Bass
California’s State Treasurer John Chiang
California’s Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson
California State Senate President Pro-Tem Kevin de León
Building Our Leadership Diversity (BOLD) PAC
Former State Senator, current Los Angeles City Councilman Gil Cedillo
Correa served in the California State Senate, representing the 34th District, from 2006- 2014 and served the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster. Prior to the Senate, he served on the Orange County Board of Supervisors representing the 1st District. Before his time on the Board, Correa served in the California State Assembly representing the 69th District.
