The city of Westminster will pay $150,000 to settle a lawsuit by former city clerk Robin Roberts, who claimed she became the target of harassment and intimidation after filing complaints about potentially illegal activity by city officials, mainly councilwoman Margie L. Rice.

Attorneys representing the city in the lawsuit signed the agreement on Nov. 14, which includes a confidentiality clause that prohibits Roberts from discussing the settlement. Roberts also waives any right to work for the city in the future.

The $150,000 represents compensation for alleged emotional distress and the cost of Roberts’ attorney fees.

“Robin wanted to move on with her professional life without the negativity of the City of Westminster holding her back,” said Dennis Wagner, Roberts’ attorney, in an email. “Lawsuits can take years to resolve.”
