Orange County Agrees to Assist Homeless Individuals in Vacating the Santa Ana Riverbed
Settlement Agreement Reached but Lack of Adequate Housing in the OC Remains
SANTA ANA – Yesterday, Orange County officials reached a settlement agreement with the ACLU Foundation of Southern California on behalf of homeless individuals entrapped in the Santa Ana Riverbed. The county has agreed to provide adequate notice, access, storage and transportation to individuals vacating the riverbed. The agreement follows a request for a temporary restraining order filed last Friday, February 10, 2017, in federal court by the ACLU SoCal.

 County Reaches Settlement Agreement in Lawsuit on Flood Control Channel Maintenance Project
Santa Ana, CA (February 17, 2017) — The County of Orange reached a final settlement in the matter of Diehl v. County of Orange, the lawsuit filed by the ACLU of Southern California (ACLU) challenging the County of Orange Public Works (OCPW) department maintenance project activities along the Santa Ana Riverbed. The settlement agreement dismisses the temporary restraining order filed against the County and includes no admission of fault on the part of the County, the Orange County Flood Control District or any officer, employee, or agent of the County.
