Voice of OC is the one place where different points of view can all have their say. We encourage dialogue on any topic of interest in Orange County.

This news agency serves Orange County residents like a 21st century public square, we are an open forum to express yourself coherently and respectfully which is the first step in civic engagement.

Our Opinion Pages reach, on average, 100,000 individuals who influence or make important decisions in your community.

We welcome both sides. Have at it. We want to hear from all points of view then we link the stories on the same topic so readers can decide for themselves.

For democracy to work, it’s critical that the public and government have a forum to suggest, persuade, even argue.

To continue, we need your financial support.

We aren’t owned by a hedge fund, a media mogul or a special interest.  We have hundreds of small donors and a few foundations that support local journalism, understanding that they must let us do our job without direction or influence.

Right now, through December 31 is NewsMatch. Your donation will be matched up to $1000. Donors of over $240 (or a $20 monthly pledge), will also receive a free one-year subscription to the New York Times.

Is it worth $20 a month or more to you?  If you care about about your neighborhood and community, please consider supporting Voice of OC.

Since you've made it this far,

You are obviously connected to your community and value good journalism. As an independent and local nonprofit, our news is accessible to all, regardless of what they can afford. Our newsroom centers on Orange County’s civic and cultural life, not ad-driven clickbait. Our reporters hold powerful interests accountable to protect your quality of life. But it’s not free to produce. It depends on donors like you.
